Nicolai Simon (born January 3, 1987 in Malsch ) is a German basketball player .

Life

He learned to play basketball at Green Star vats and the BG Karlsruhe before he to the basketball boarding Schelklinger Urspringschule changed. There he was able to advance both his basketball and school training under professional conditions and was also introduced to the 1st men's team of TSG Ehingen - the school's cooperation partner.

At the age of 16, Nicolai Simon made his debut there in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga South and quickly fought for a place in the starting lineup. At the same time, however, the 1.90 m tall guard continued to play in the junior teams of his boarding school and became German champions with the U16 team in 2004. He was able to repeat this with the U18 selection the following year and achieved an average of 33 minutes playing time with the Ehingen Bundesliga basketball players . With that, Simon, who, as one of the best German players of his age group, went through almost all youth national teams, was already a leading player and achieved an average of 12 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game.

In the following year Nicolai Simon was able to further increase his statistical values with the same playing time and came into the focus of the German top teams. He signed for the 2006/07 season with the German cup winner ALBA Berlin , where he quickly became an important part of the team.

Equipped with a double license, Nicolai Simon led the team of cooperation partner TuS Lichterfelde to stay in the 2nd basketball Bundesliga North and earned an average of eleven minutes of playing time (2.4 points on average) with championship favorites ALBA Berlin in his first season. His first season in the basketball Bundesliga was crowned with the nomination as the best young player (" Rookie of the Year ") of the 2006/07 season. In the 2007/08 season he only made five Bundesliga appearances due to a back injury (tear in the intervertebral disc). In order to gain match practice, he returned to Ehingen on loan in the 2008/09 season and played in the 2. Bundesliga ProB .

On July 24, 2009, he signed a contract with the Paderborn Baskets. There he could not prevent the Baskets from relegating to the 2nd division. In order to continue playing in the basketball Bundesliga, Simon then moved to the Walter Tigers Tübingen for the 2010/2011 season . There he received a two-year contract.

From the 2012/13 season he played for the BBC Bayreuth. His first season at the BBC was the most successful of his time in Bayreuth in terms of statistical values: In 2012/13 he achieved an average of 9.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per use. After his contract expired, Simon moved within the league and signed a contract with the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig for the 2014/2015 season .

In the summer of 2017, he left Braunschweig and switched to the Lower Saxony Bundesliga competitor BG Göttingen . In mid-December 2017 he left the "Veilchen". For the BG, he played ten Bundesliga games with an average of 1.2 per match.

Simon moved with his family to Berlin , at the end of August 2018 he was introduced as a new addition by SSV Lokomotive Bernau (2nd Bundesliga ProB). He played one season for Brandenburg and then left the club for professional reasons.
