Johann Huettner

Johann Hüttner (born April 6, 1939 in Vienna ) is a theater scholar , German studies scholar and one of the editors and editors of the historical-critical Nestroy edition.

Life

After studying theater studies and German studies, Johann Hüttner was full professor at the University of Vienna since 1991 , at the Institute for Theater Studies, of which he was head of the institute between 2000 and 2004. After his retirement in autumn 2004, he taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts at the Max Reinhardt Seminar until 2006 .

Hüttner has published mainly on the topics of the social history of theater, popular theater , and the connection between film and theater. His main research interests are 19th century Austrian theater history. He is also one of the general editors and editors of the historical-critical Nestroy edition as well as the editors of the new historical-critical Raimund edition.

Hüttner is President of the Grillparzer Society .
