The greatest successes of the basketball department of TuS Lichterfelde included, in addition to the youth championships, the promotion of the first men's team to the first basketball league in 2000 and in 2006 to the second basketball league. The second basketball league with the Pro A and Pro B seasons has set itself the goal of promoting young talent. The first men's team in the TuS Lichterfelde department was the only one of the 32 teams to consist exclusively of young German players and deliberately refrained from using both foreign and experienced German leading players. TuS Lichterfelde (basketball department) was relegated from the Pro B after the 2007/2008 season.

There was a partnership with the Bundesliga basketball team Alba Berlin . A well-known player who played for TuS Lichterfelde from 1987 to 1991 and then for Alba Berlin from 1991 to 1997 is center player Teoman Öztürk . Öztürk won with the German national team the Eurobasket 1993 . The basketball department of the TuSLi produced many other national and Bundesliga players. B. Ademola Okulaja , Marko Pešić , Jörg Lütcke , Patrick Falk , Mithat Demirel , Nino Garris , Heiko Schaffartzik and Jan Jagla.
