Marko Pešić (born December 6, 1976 in Sarajevo , Yugoslavia ) is a former German basketball player and national player . He played 97 international matches and won silver in the European Championship and bronze in the World Cup with the German national team . With Alba Berlin he was German champion six times. He is currently the sports director and managing director of the basketball department at FC Bayern Munich .

life and career

Marko Pešić is the son of Svetislav Pešić , who was, among other things, national coach of the German national basketball team (1987–1993), which led it to the European championship in 1993, and - while Pešić jr. there was a player - coach of Bundesliga basketball team Alba Berlin (1993-2000).

When his father was hired by the German Basketball Association as the new national coach in 1987 , the family moved from Sarajevo to Hagen , where the DBB is based. Pešić played in Brandt Hagen's youth department . He later played for TuS Lichterfelde and made his debut in the Bundesliga with Alba Berlin . In 1999/2000 he gained his first international experience at Iraklis Thessaloniki (Greece) and then returned to Berlin.

As a player for Alba Berlin, he was involved in winning a total of six German championships and five cup victories as well as winning the bronze medal at the 2002 World Cup in Indianapolis and the silver medal at the 2005 European Championship as a national player . In the 2005/05 season he played for RheinEnergie Cologne in the Bundesliga, won the cup with the club and then moved to Italy, where he played until the end of his career.

In 2006 he officially ended his national team career in Berlin. Shortly thereafter, Pešić said goodbye to club basketball, where he played for Lottomatica Rome until the summer of 2006 .

After the playing career

Following his active career, Pešić studied sports marketing and communication at the University of Venice . In 2007, he went with the company "Lumani 10.07 GmbH" as a player consultant independently . In 2008 he successfully completed his sports manager studies at IST Düsseldorf, which he began during his playing career.

For the 2011/2012 season Pešić was the new sports director of the basketball department of FC Bayern Munich . On January 11, 2013, he also took over the post of Managing Director at FC Bayern Basketball. After the engagement of sports director Daniele Baiesi in July 2014, Pešić devoted himself mainly to his duties as managing director.
