In January 2008, the Brose Baskets from Bamberg announced that they had signed Demirel until the end of the season.

In preparation for the 2009/2010 season, Demirel traveled to the training camp in Kranjska Gora with his former basketball club Alba Berlin . Officially, the club announced that the clubless Demirel only wants to keep fit in order to recommend himself to other basketball clubs again.
