Beşiktaş Jimnastik Kulübü Basketbol is the basketball department of the Turkish sports club Beşiktaş Istanbul from the Beşiktaş district in the European part of the largest city in the country, Istanbul . Beşiktaş (under the name Beşiktaş Milangaz) achieved the greatest successes in basketball in 2012 by winning the triple, consisting of the Turkish Championship, the Turkish Cup and the EuroChallenge . Beşiktaş plays its games in the Beşiktaş Akatlar Arena.

history

Beşiktaş Istanbul founded its first basketball team in 1933. After many players had left the club, he stopped playing in 1936. After a four-year break, gaming was resumed. In 1957, Hüdai Budanır scored 110 points against Karagücü in the then Istanbul League. Beşiktaş won 110-46. Budanır's record was later broken by Erman Kunter with 153 points.

1966/67 to 1976/1977 Beşiktaş missed three times winning the Turkish basketball championship. 1974/75 Beşiktaş won his first Turkish championship title in the club's history. Beşiktaş had a bad season in 1997, after regular time the team was 13th on a relegation zone. But by the financial problems of Yıldırımspor, which withdrew from the first division, Beşiktaş remained in the first division.

In 2004/05, the black and white made it into the play-off final after 30 years. The opponent was Efes Pilsen Istanbul . Efes Pilsen won the final with a series of 3: 1.

From the 2005/06 season the main sponsor Cola Turka was part of the team name, in the 2011/12 season the club was named after the utility company Milangaz , and after the start of the 2012/13 season the club was named "Beşiktaş Integral Forex".

In 2011/12 the black eagles became Turkish champions again after 37 years after beating Anadolu Efes with a series of 4-2 in the play-off final. This was also the 3rd cup in a very successful season.

Name changes due to sponsorship

On the basis of sponsorship agreements, the club has been selling its naming rights since summer 2005 and as a result has the respective sponsor name in its club name. The previous sponsoring-related name changes are:

  • Beşiktaş Milangaz (2011-2013)
