The basketball team of Galatasaray is the first professional basketball team in Turkey was founded. This happened in 1911. Galatasaray plays in the highest Turkish basketball league, the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi , where they have won five titles so far. In addition, the club's basketball department - like the football team or the women's department - was the only Turkish club to win a European title ( Eurocup 2015/16 ).

Name changes due to sponsorship

On the basis of sponsorship agreements, the club has been selling its naming rights since summer 2005 and as a result has the respective sponsor name in its club name. The previous sponsoring-related name changes are:

  • Galatasaray Cafe Crown (2005-2011)
  • Galatasaray Medical Park (2011-2013)
  • Galatasaray Liv Hospital (2013-2015)
  • Galatasaray Odeabank (2015–)

      • for the winning achievements of the Galatasaray basketball wheelchair team at the European and Intercontinental Basketball Wheelchair Championships.
