Aleksandar "Aleks" Marić (born October 22, 1984 in Sydney , Australia ) is an Australian basketball player who is also a Serbian national and plays on the position of the center .
Career
After Aleks Marić took his first basketball steps at the Australian Institute of Sport in, he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after a high school stay in Burlington , where he played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers between 2004 and 2008.
Marić began his professional career in 2008 with the Spanish first division club CB Granada. For the 2009/2010 season he moved to Partizan Belgrade where, in addition to the Serbian championship and the cup, he was also able to win the Adriatic League . In the same year he made his debut in the ULEB Euroleague , reached the Final Four there and was elected to the All Euroleague Fist Team. From 2010 to 2012 he played for the traditional Greek club Panathinaikos Athens, where he won the ULEB Euroleague in 2011. For the 2012/13 season he moved to Lokomotive Kuban Krasnodar in Russia, with whom he won the Eurocup in 2013 .
National team
For the Australian youth national teams, Marić took part in the U19 and U21 World Championships in 2003 and 2005 respectively. He was able to finish the 2003 tournament by winning the gold medal. Since 2010 Marić has played for Australia's men's selection .
