Play-off participation in 2014, second division runner-up in 2016 in 2013 |
Muratbey Uşak Sportif is the basketball department of the Turkish sports club from Uşak in the Aegean region . The division, founded in 2006 in the club founded in 1983 as Uşak Üniversitesi Belediyespor , played in the second Turkish division TB2L from the beginning, before advancing to the top division Türkiye Basketbol Ligi in 2013 . Just one year later, FIBA Europe also took part in continental club competitions for the first time .
history
After first place in the main round of TB2L, the team reached the final series in the play-offs for promotion in 2013 , losing the final of the second division championship just 66:71 against Trabzonspor . Nevertheless, reaching the finals was enough for the first promotion to the top division Türkiye Basketbol Ligi , in which they reached the play-offs for the Turkish championship in seventh place in the 2013/14 season . Here they were eliminated in the first round without a win against the later title winner Fenerbahçe Ülker . In the following season, the team took part in an international club competition for the first time and reached the round of the best 16 teams in the EuroChallenge 2014/15 , in which it was enough to two home wins in six games, including against the Austrian champions UBC Güssing Knights . In the national championship, however, they slipped to the 13th and fourth from bottom place in the table and thus missed another qualification for an international competition. However, this succeeded under the new name sponsor Muratbey in the following season 2015/16, when they qualified again in seventh place for the play-offs for the championship. In the first round, the team was again loser against Fenerbahçe on their way to another championship. For the following season, the club was able to sign, among others, Mark Lyons and Darryl Monroe from the Israeli surprise champion Maccabi Rischon LeZion . Muratbey Uşak only had to secure participation in the main round in the new 2016/17 Basketball Champions League competition set up by FIBA Europa through a successful qualifying round. Also in the national championship they started successfully with an opening victory over defending champion Fenerbahçe.
