Men's basketball champion

The history of the championship

Since 1947, 17 different teams have won the championship title. The record champions UBSC Vienna won the title 11 times.

Of the first 35 championship titles, 34 went to 9 different Viennese clubs, of the next 25 titles only one. None of these 10 Viennese teams still play in the Bundesliga today.

From 1983 to 2000, 18 out of 19 titles went to Lower Austrian teams. Klosterneuburg was able to win a total of 9 titles during this period. St. Pölten was successful 6 times and Traiskirchen 3 times.

While all the titles were won by clubs from Vienna or Lower Austria until 2001, in the following years all titles went to teams from Styria or Upper Austria. Since 2001, the title has moved 4 times to Kapfenberg (2001 to 2004), 4 times to Gmunden (2005 to 2007, 2010), 2 times to Oberwart (2011, 2016), 2 times to Güssing (2014, 2015), once to Fürstenfeld (2008), once to Wels (2009), once to Klosterneuburg (2012) and once to Vienna (2013). The governing champions are the Oberwart Gunners.
