De'Teri Jabbar Mayes (born August 5, 1974 ) is a retired American - Austrian basketball player . With his 1.89 m he played in the position of the shooting guard .

Life

Before coming to Austria, he first played at Wallace State Community College, but then moved to Murray State University after two seasons . In his senior year in the United States, he averaged 21.5 points per game. From 1999 to 2011 he played for Gmunden Swans in the Bundesliga . In the seasons 02/03, 03/04, 05/06, 06/07 and 09/10 he was voted the most valuable player in the Austrian basketball league . In addition there were the MVP titles of the final series in 2006/07 and 2009/10. After the contract for the 2011/12 season in Gmunden was not renewed, he moved to the Kapfenberg Bulls, where he received a two-year contract. In 2013 he ended his career.

Austrian national team

The native American played in the European Championship qualification 2005 (Division B) in the Austrian national team . With 18.9 points he was the top scorer of the team ahead of Bernd Volcic (13.5 pts). His throw rate from the field was 61%, of 35 free throws he was able to convert 30 (86%). In the second round match against Albania he was able to achieve his best performance with 30 points scored. After the 1st place in Group C was reached, the team suffered 2 defeats in the relegation for promotion to Division A against Macedonia.
