Austrian Cup (basketball)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Austrian Basketball Cup is a basketball tournament that has been held annually since 1994. In addition to the title in the championship and the Supercup (champion versus cup winner), the cup is one of three national titles in Austria. The cup has been named the Chevrolet Cup after its main sponsor, Chevrolet, since the 2004/05 season .

The cup will be played parallel to the championship in a knockout system . The teams of the Admiral Basketball Bundesliga and the second division are eligible to participate . The two semi-finals and the final have been played since 1995 as part of the Final Four tournament, in which these three games are played on two consecutive days.

With a total of six wins each, the Gmunden Swans and the ece bulls Kapfenberg are record winners in the cup. In 1995 UBC Stahlbau Oberwart Gunners was the only second division team to win the cup.
