Thomas Klepeisz (* 4. August 1991 in Güssing ) is an Austrian basketball player at the position of the building player . Klepeisz measures 1.89 meters and has been part of the squad of the German first division club Ratiopharm Ulm since May 2020 .

Player career

Klepeisz's parents met while playing basketball. As an adolescent, he said he spent most of his free time on an outdoor basketball court with his brother and friends. He was national champion with the Güssing youth teams.

He played from the 2007/08 season for his home club UBC Güssing Knights in the Austrian Bundesliga .

In 2014 and 2015 he was Austrian champion with Güssing and also won the national cup competition in 2015 (including the award for best player in the final tournament). In 2013 and 2014 Klepeisz was named the best local player in the Bundesliga.

After the 2015/16 season, in which his club's license was revoked in April 2016, he moved abroad, and in July 2016 the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig from the German basketball league announced their commitment. In the run-up to the 2018/19 season, he was given the office of team captain in Braunschweig. He extended his contract early in February 2019 to summer 2020. In mid-May 2020, Ratiopharm Ulm announced Klepeisz's commitment to strengthen the team at the Bundesliga season final tournament, which was held due to the season interruption due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus . The Austrian then signed a follow-up contract in Ulm in July 2020.

National team

Klepeisz played for Austria's national teams in the age groups U16, U18 and U20. At the B-EM U20 in 2010 he won gold with Austria. In 2011 he was appointed to Austria's senior national team for the first time.

Personal

His brother Matthias, who was two years older, also played for the UBC Güssing Knights .
