Mattersburg 49ers
Mattersburg 49ers is a basketball club from Steinbrunn in Burgenland . The club was founded in 1949 as Union Basketball Club Mattersburg by Wilhelm Bauer. In 2002 the team was named UBC Mattersburg 49ers Austrian Cup winner.
The team played in the highest Austrian basketball league from 1995 to 2007.
The Austrian basketball league refused the license for the basketball league to the VIVA 49ers Basket in the summer of 2007 .
In the 2007/08 season, the Mattersburg 49ers took part in the newly structured 2. Bundesliga in the East division. In the 2008/09 season the club played in the Burgenland regional league and became national champions.
In the following season 2009/10 the 49ers were penultimate in the Burgenland state league.
