Raiffeisen Flyers Wels is an Austrian basketball club from Wels .

The association was founded as WBC Kraftwerk Wels in 2000 through a merger of the clubs Union Wels and ABC Sparkasse Wels . The latter was four times Austrian runner-up in the late 1980s. The team has been playing in the basketball league since the 2003/04 season . The 2005/06 game year was a successful year for the team for the first time in the club's young history. The cup victory and the runner-up title were won. The greatest success was set on June 7, 2009. The WBC Wels became Austrian champions for the first time in a dramatic final series against local rivals Gmunden.

After the main sponsor changed, the club name was WBC Raiffeisen Wels from the 2009/10 season . In 2017, the association was incorporated into the newly founded Raiffeisen Flyers Wels.

Greatest successes

  • 2009: Austrian champion
In a dramatic final against Allianz Swans Gmunden , the WBC won the Austrian championship title for the first time with 82:80. Ricky Moore was named the MVP of the playoff.
  • 2006: Austrian cup winner
The foundation stone for the first title win in the club's history was laid in the semifinals with an 80-76 win over Allianz Swans Gmunden. In the Volksbank-Arena in Gmunden, the WBC Kraftwerk Wels managed to inflict the first home defeat on the host after 37 wins. In the final, the WBC then clearly prevailed against Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions with 84:61. Curtis Bobb was named MVP of the Cup Final Four.
  • 2006: runner-up
Allianz Swans Gmunden won the championship final 3: 1 and thus successfully defended the title it had won the year before. The WBC won the third final game away with an 83:80.
