Dietmar Söllner

Dietmar Söllner (born February 15, 1959 ) is an Austrian basketball coach .

career

Söllner played football as a teenager and basketball from the age of 15, and as a basketball player made it into the 2nd Bundesliga.

In 1986 and 1987 the women's team of the UBC Wels under Söllner was the Austrian runner-up as a coach, he looked after the team from 1983 to 1987. In 1994 and 1995 he led the men from Trodat Wels to third place in the Bundesliga final table. From 1996 to 1999 Söllner was coach of the BSC Fürstenfeld Panthers (also in the Bundesliga), in 1999 he was named Austria's basketball coach of the year, in the same year he led Fürstenfeld to the final of the national cup competition.

From 1999 he coached the Swans Gmunden in the Bundesliga and stayed in office until 2002. In 2002 Söllner returned to Wels and was coach at the Bundesliga club WBC until 2005. In February 2005 he resigned from office.

In 2008 and 2009 he was the head coach of the Austrian U16 national team at the B European Championship tournaments. In 2008 Söllner was also the coach of the U20 team. In 2009 he was also the coach in charge of the female U20 national team and drove with the team to the European B Championship. In summer 2011 he headed the U18 national team at the B-EM as a coach.

At the Wels club FC Neustadt he was a youth coach and coordinator for young talent. In 2018, the club's male U14s won the Austrian championship title as coach under Söllner.

In April 2017 he was awarded the gold medal for sports by the city of Wels .
