Aaron Mitchell

Aaron Mitchell (born September 12, 1969 in Welsh , Louisiana ) is an American - Austrian basketball coach and former player.

career

player

Mitchell played at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the NCAA from 1987 to 1991 . In his final season of 1990/91, the 1.88-meter-tall builder had averages of 15.0 points, 5.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per encounter. With a total of 674 basket assists, which he achieved during his four years at university, he was first on the all-time best list of the university team when he switched to the professional camp in 1991.

Shortly before the beginning of the 1991/92 game year, he was removed from the squad of the NBA team Portland Trail Blazers , then was part of the line-up of the Lacrosse Catbirds in the CBA before moving abroad. Mitchell played in the course of his career as a professional basketball player for clubs from Venezuela , Austria , Cyprus , Switzerland , France , Israel , Turkey and Italy . With the Italian first division club Montepaschi Siena , he joined the Euro League at, in Austria, he was in the 1992/93 season with the Swans Gmunden , 2001/02 and 2007/08 with the Panthers Furstenfeld , from autumn 2004 to February 2005, Kraftwerk Wels and from February 2005 to 2007 at UBC Mattersburg (as a player-coach) under contract.

Trainer

After he had worked as a player-coach in Mattersburg until 2007, he moved to Fürstenfeld as assistant coach for the 2007/08 season, where he had once played. In November 2007 he was promoted to head coach and led the team to win the state championship. In 2009 Fürstenfeld won the Austrian cup competition under his leadership.

In the 2009/10 season Mitchell coached the Bundesliga club BasketClubs Vienna , from 2010 to 2012 he was head coach of Antranik Beirut in Lebanon . He returned to Austria and coached the second division BBU Salzburg from 2012 to 2014 before taking over the coaching position at the Hungarian first division club BC Körmend in spring 2014, which he held until October 2014.

In 2015 and 2016 Mitchell worked as a national coach in Bahrain , and in March 2017 he returned to the BBU Salzburg as a coach.

Private

His son Adrian  also became a Bundesliga basketball player.
