The stone circles at the Schluchsee are on the way between the Gasthaus Eisenbreche and the dam wall at Schluchsee in the southern Black Forest, district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald in Baden-Württemberg . There a large number of stone blocks peek out from between the trees, which occasionally seem to form stone circles. These are more reminiscent of pagan walls than the classic stone circles of megalithic culture. Also Schalensteine are reportedly often found.

In the opinion of the State Monuments Office, however , the “stone circles” in Blasiwald-Eisenbreche are not prehistoric places of worship. Nevertheless, the authority wants part of the facility to be retained and the planned expansion of the building area to be planned at a greater distance from the cultural monuments.

After an inspection of the site on June 29, 2004, the Freiburg branch office of the State Monuments Office took the view in a file note that the stone circles are structures that were created during the agricultural reclamation of the site in the late 14th century:

“Suitable areas of the terrain were cleared of the granite rubble that can be found everywhere and that was caused by the Ice Age so that they could be used for cultivation. They were fenced off against the surrounding area by wall-like boulders and in the present case the area was partially raised in terraces. "

The arches that occur frequently correspond to the topographical conditions. The evidence of the reclamation of the area in Blasiwald carried out in the late 14th century would have been particularly well preserved due to the weathering resistance of the boulders and the low settlement activity.
