The large stone grave Moidentin is a megalithic grave system of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Moidentin , a district of the village of Mecklenburg in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). It bears the Sprockhoff number 321.

location

The grave is located about 400 m southeast of the outskirts of Moidentin on a hill in the field. Until the 19th century there were still numerous burial mounds in the vicinity .

description

The facility is in very poor condition, so that its original appearance can no longer be reconstructed. Only five stones remain in certain remains. These are two wall stones, one of which was blown up, a cap stone 0.6 m thick, and two dragged stones, the original position of which can no longer be determined. In addition, the grave is heavily littered with reading stones.

Carl Friedrich von Both carried out an excavation here in 1821. At that time there were still more stones left. Many, however, had already been moved or abducted, others were already missing completely. Only the fragments of a ceramic vessel and a flint knife are known to be found.
