Hans-Jürgen Beier (born August 5, 1956 in Oberschlema ) is a German prehistorian and publisher .

Hans-Jürgen Beier was born in what was then the Oberschlema part of the city of Schneeberg. In 1975 he graduated from high school and in the same year began studying prehistory and early history at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU). He completed his studies in 1980 with a degree in prehistoric studies. From 1981 to 1985 he was a research assistant in the prehistory and early history department of the Oriental and Classical Studies section at the MLU, and from 1985 to 1988 he was a teacher in the university service there. Beier received his doctorate in November 1985 under Joachim Preuss , Friedrich Schlette and Alexander Häusler with a text on the topic of spherical amphora culture in the Middle Elbe-Saale area and in the Altmark .

From 1988 to 1993 he was a research assistant in the science department, which in 1991 became the Institute for Prehistoric Archeology. In 1990 he received the Facultas Docendi for Prehistory and Early History. In November 1991 he completed his habilitation with the thesis The megalithic, submegalithic and pseudomegalithic buildings as well as the menhirs in the five new East German federal states (formerly GDR). An inventory , experts were again Preuss and Schlette and Manfred Menke .

In 1991 he co-founded the Beier & Beran publishing house and became a publisher. From 1993 to 2020 he headed the Werdau City and Steam Engine Museum .
