Pınar Karşıyaka Basketbol Takımı is the basketball department of the Turkish sports club Karşıyaka SK from Izmir . The department, founded in 1966, is one of the founding members of the top national division Türkiye Basketbol Ligi (TBL), but had to relegate after two seasons. In 1974 they returned to the top division and have been playing in this class ever since. Along with the four Istanbul teams Efes , Beşiktaş , Fenerbahçe Ülker and Galatasaray, they are one of the longest-standing members of the TBL. In 1987 they won the championship and the presidential cup (Turkish Supercup ). In 2005 they reached the final of the Turkish Cup competition. At the European level, they qualified for the quarter-final play-offs of the EuroChallenge in 2011 . A year later, as the host of the Final Four tournament , they lost the final against Krasnye Krylja Samara with one point difference , after defeating the German representative EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the semifinals .

Karşıyaka has a reputation as a training club that introduces young players to higher tasks. Most recently, two Turkish “picks” in the 2012 NBA draft , Furkan Aldemir and İlkan Karaman , who was loaned from Galatasaray , were active for the club at the beginning of their careers. The team is also known for its loyal fans.

In 2015 the team won the championship for the second time.
