BK Krasnye Krylja Samara ( Russian Красные Крылья Самара , "Red Wings Samara") is a professional basketball club of the Russian Professionalnaja Basketbolnaja League from Samara , Russia . The team was founded after the ZSK WWS Samara went bankrupt .

history

Krasnye Krylja took the place of ZSK WWS in all competitions. While in the national championship they occupied a place in the middle of the field, in the first year the European made the advance into the final of the EuroChallenge 2009/10 , where they lost to the BG 74 Göttingen with 75:83. The following year Samara played in the Eurocup , but did not get beyond the group stage. In the 2011/12 season they were not represented in the European competitions, nationally they achieved their first notable success by winning the Russian Cup. The cup win could be repeated in the 2012/13 season. In the same season Krylja reached the Final Four of the Eurochallenge, where BCM Gravelines was beaten 81:78 in the semifinals . In the final, the team finally defeated Karşıyaka SK 77:76 and thus won the third most important European basketball cup. After the team struggled with financial difficulties for several years, it withdrew its team from the game operations of the VTB United League after the 2014/15 season .
