BK Budiwelnyk ( Ukrainian баскетбольний клуб Будіве́льник ) is a professional Ukrainian basketball club from Kiev , Ukraine . In the 2013/14 season the club plays in the Ukrainian basketball Superliga Ukraine . In addition to the Ukrainian championship, the club plays in the ULEB Euroleague . It is one of the strongest clubs in Ukraine and formerly the USSR.

History and previous names

BK Budiwelnyk was founded in 1945 at a sports college as SKIF Kiev. In 1958 he was promoted to the top division of the Soviet Union and won the first Ukrainian championship. In 1962 the team was assigned a building trust and was given the name Stroitel ( Russian Строитель ), which means construction worker and Ukrainian means Budiwelnyk . This is what the team was called in the Ukrainian press. In 1989 it was finally renamed Budiwelnyk . After winning the championship in the 2012/13 season, Budivelnyk is the most successful Ukrainian team since independence with ten titles. In the European competitions, reaching the semi-finals in the Eurocup 2013 was the best result so far.
