BK Krasny Oktjabr Volgograd ( Russian Красный Октябрь Волгоград , German Red October Volgograd ) was a professional basketball club of the VTB United League from Volgograd , Russia .
history
The team was founded in 2012 on the initiative of the managing director of Volgogradsky Metallurgichesky Zavod Krasny Oktyabr Dmitri Gerasimenko. Gerassimenko became active not only as president, but also as a player. In its first season, the club started in the second-rate Superleague Russia and finished 11th after the regular season. For the 2013/14 season, Red October got the right to start in the VTB United League . In the next season, Volgograd started in the ULEB Eurocup for the first time .
On October 26, 2014, the club announced the commitment of long-time German national coach Dirk Bauermann .
Since the club did not have a hall according to the statutes of the VTB United League , the club did not receive a license for the VTB League for the 2016/17 season. Thereupon the game operation was stopped.
