BK Yenisei Krasnoyarsk ( Russian баскетбольний клуб Енисей Красноярск ) is a Russian professional basketball team from Krasnoyarsk , Russia . The club currently plays in the VTB league .

history

BK Yenisei Krasnoyarsk was founded in 1981 as a sports section at the Krasnoyarsk Polytechnic. For several years Yenisei played in the lower class leagues. It was not until 1996 that Yenisei made it to the Superliga A - the highest Russian division at the time. After an early relegation, it was not until 2007 that they returned to the top Russian league. Yenisei was one of the teams that played in the PBL from 2010 to 2012 . Yenisei has been playing in the VTB League since the 2011/12 season . At the European level, Yenisei made its debut in the EuroChallenge in the 2009/10 season . In the 2014/15 season, Yenisei reached the quarter-finals of the EuroChallenge. That was the club's greatest sporting success so far.
