The BC Astana ( Russian БК Астана ) is a Kazakh professional basketball team from Only-Sultan (2019 Astana) in the Kazakh National League and in the VTB United League play.
history
The club was re-established in 2011 on the basis of Astana Tigers . The predecessor moved to the 2nd Kazakh league. Shortly after it was founded, the newly formed team won the Kazakh Cup in December 2011. Since then, the team has dominated the national championship. The team won several championship and national cup titles. Internationally, Astana has been playing in the VTB League since the 2011/12 season . The best result so far was reaching the play-offs. BK Astana played in the EuroChallenge in the 2014/15 season and reached the top 16 rounds. The next season the club played in the FIBA Europe Cup . The best international result so far was reaching third place in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2017.
