Handball Oberliga Ostsee-Spree

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Handball-Oberliga Ostsee-Spree (OOS) is one of the twelve squadrons of the Handball Oberliga of the German Handball Federation and the highest division of the handball associations Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , Berlin and Brandenburg , which belonged to the superordinate regional association of the Northeast German Handball Association (NOHV). However, this association was dissolved on June 30, 2012, so that these state associations are currently not subordinate to any regional association. After the Bundesliga , the 2nd Bundesliga and the 3rd League, the Oberliga is the fourth highest division in German handball .

history

The league was introduced as part of a general structural reform of the handball leagues for the 2010/2011 season, replacing the previous upper leagues Berlin-Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The contract for this was signed during the 54th Berlin Association Day in April 2009 by the presidents and vice-presidents (law) of the three associations that at that time still belonged to the Northeast German Handball Association . In autumn 2010, ten teams from the previous Oberliga Berlin-Brandenburg and four teams from the Oberliga Mecklenburg-Vorpommern started for the first time; for the women there were nine teams from Berlin and Brandenburg and three teams from Mecklenburg-Vorpommern; The starting field was supplemented by relegated players from the regional leagues and promoted players from the three association leagues. Since the 2011/2012 season, the champions of the major league have been promoted directly to the superordinate 3rd division and the last three teams have been relegated to the leagues of the regional associations involved.
