SV Fortuna '50 Neubrandenburg
The SV Fortuna 50 Neubrandenburg is a German sports club from Neubrandenburg . The association has more than 500 members who are organized in five departments. Today's club was created in June 1997 from the merger of SV 1950 Neubrandenburg (formerly BSG unit, later BSG unit / Sirokko) and HV Fortuna Neubrandenburg (formerly ASG Trollenhagen-Mitte). The founding year 1950 refers to the foundation of the BSG unit Neubrandenburg on May 1st 1950.
In the club, the sports handball , soccer , volleyball , bike ball and fitness are actively pursued.
Handball
The handball department is the only one of the five departments that is performance-oriented. In the youth field, the association works as a state performance base with the sports high school in Neubrandenburg . The first women's team played between 1977 and 1991 as BSG Einheit / Sirokko Neubrandenburg a total of eleven seasons in the GDR Oberliga , with two sixth places in 1980 and 1982 being the best results. As the last of the last season of the GDR Oberliga, the team of the then SV 1950 qualified for the 2nd Bundesliga , where they spent five seasons until 1996. The team then played six seasons in the Regionalliga Nordost. In 2002, the SV Fortuna 1950 team rose to fourth in the Regionalliga Nordost (the three better-placed teams had consistently waived) again in the 2nd division, from which the team had to relegate in 2005. The first men has been playing in the MV league since 2019. The women's team has been playing in the Ostsee Spree League again since 2019.
Bike ball
The cycling department was represented by the first team in the 2nd Bundesliga from 1999, 2000 and 2002 to 2007. She currently plays in the highest class in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
