The 1. SV Eberswalde is a German men's handball club from Eberswalde .

The club was founded in the autumn of 1979/80 as the handball department of the BSG SVKE Britz , the company sports association of the Britzer meat combine , and was involved in the game operations of the former district from 1980. 1983 rose the first men's team in the district league; in the same year a second men's team was built. The first team reached promotion to the GDR league , the second highest division in the GDR , in April 1985 . In the second season, the team succeeded with a victory in the last league game on March 29, 1987 against the BSG steel Eisenhüttenstadt promotion to the GDR league; from this, however, the team rose after the season back into the GDR league.

In the spring of 1990 the 1. SV Eberswalde / Britz was founded as the successor to the BSG SVKE Britz. The team managed to qualify for the 2nd handball league as fourth in the GDR league in 1990/1991 . In the first season ( 1991/1992 ) the team finished 7th, after the second season ( 1992/1993 ), however, the team rose from the 2nd Bundesliga in 1993 to the regional handball league (relay north / east). The team played here until they were promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 1995/1996 season; the 1996/1997 season ended with immediate relegation to the regional league.

After the 1998/1999 season, the first men's team from the regional league was relegated to the Brandenburg Oberliga. In 1999/2000 she qualified for the newly founded Berlin-Brandenburg League. From this, the team was relegated to the former league in 2001; the games were played because of a new hall in Finowfurt . In the 2003/2004 season of the Oberliga, the team was national champion for men and thus managed to return to the Berlin-Brandenburg League, from which it was relegated again after one season in 2005. In 2007 she won the state championship again and achieved promotion to the Berlin-Brandenburg Oberliga; since then, the team has played in the fourth-highest German division - since 2010 in the newly founded handball league Ostsee-Spree .
