Location of Finowfurt in Brandenburg |
Finowfurt is a district of the community Schorfheide in the Brandenburg district of Barnim . It was created in 1929 through the merger of Schöpfurth and Steinfurth, two villages that were formed in the Middle Ages at a crossing over the Finow . The place is the official seat of the community Schorfheide .
geography
Finowfurt is about two kilometers from the district town of Eberswalde (distance between the centers about ten kilometers), directly on the A 11 Berlin– Stettin motorway ( Finowfurt junction ) and the federal road 167 Neuruppin –Eberswalde as well as on the Finow Canal and Oder-Havel Canal .
The place borders in the north on the districts Groß Schönebeck, Werbellin and Lichterfelde of the community Schorfheide, in the east on the city of Eberswalde, in the south on the city of Biesenthal ( Amt Biesenthal-Barnim ) and in the west on the community Marienwerder , also the Amt Biesenthal- Belonging to Barnim.
history
Finowfurt was created on January 1, 1929 through the merger of the two villages Schöpfurth and Steinfurth, both villages were first mentioned in 1375 in Charles IV's land register .
In 1907 the Eberswalde-Finowfurt Railway opened for passenger and freight traffic . In 1947 it was transferred to the Landesbahn Brandenburg and in 1949 to the Deutsche Reichsbahn . Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1961 and freight traffic in 1996.
The expansion of the Finow airfield began in 1938. It was used by the German Wehrmacht until 1945 and by the Soviet / Russian armed forces from 1945 to 1994 .
On August 21, 1992, in the course of the formation of offices in Brandenburg, the Barnim-Nord office with its seat in Finowfurt was formed, in which the four communities Eichhorst, Finowfurt, Lichterfelde and Werbellin were united. On December 30, 1997 the municipalities of Lichterfelde, Finowfurt, Werbellin and Eichhorst merged to form a new municipality of Finowfurt. At the same time, the Finowfurt office was dissolved and the new (large) community Finowfurt became vacant.
On December 31, 2002 the municipality Altenhof ( Amt Joachimsthal (Schorfheide) ) was incorporated into the municipality Finowfurt, which thus left the Amt Joachimsthal (Schorfheide).
On August 16, 2002, the Ministry of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the merger of the community of Groß Schönebeck, which was still an official at that time ( Amt Groß Schönebeck (Schorfheide) ) and the non-official community of Finowfurt. However, the merger only became legally effective on the day of the state-wide local elections on October 26, 2003. At this point in time, the Groß Schönebeck (Schorfheide) office was also dissolved, and the new municipality of Schorfheide is free of office.
