Schluft is a district of the non-governmental municipality Schorfheide in the Barnim district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is 18 kilometers northwest of Finowfurt , the seat of the municipal administration, and 26 kilometers northwest of Eberswalde , the administrative seat of the district. The district of Uhlenhof is located in the district of Schluft .

history

Schluft emerged from 1752 in connection with the settlement of spinners who had been invited by the Prussian King Friedrich II . The new settlers were supposed to cultivate silkworms and thus avoid expensive imports of silk . The planted mulberry trees perished due to the frosty winters, so that neither an extensive silk production could be established, nor an adequate income for the families was possible. So the settlers gave up spinning towards the end of the 18th century , but stayed in the place. They turned to agriculture and forestry. - In 1855, an inn opened in the center of the village, which was in operation until the end of 2017.

The place name is derived from its location, because Schluft means, among other things, "narrow space" or a "valley, even narrower than a ravine ".

Until 1973 Schluft was an independent municipality in what was then the district of Bernau . It was incorporated into Groß Schönebeck on September 14, 1973 . Since the merger of Groß Schönebeck and Finowfurt to form the municipality of Schorfheide on October 26, 2003, Schluft has been a district of Schorfheide.
