The Steinfurt Church is a neo-Gothic brick building in Finowfurt in the municipality of Schorfheide in the Barnim district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the Protestant parish in the Barnim parish of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

history

The church in what was then Steinfurt was built in 1878 in place of a dilapidated previous building, with the altar remaining in its location. The money for the construction came mainly from church surpluses. The total cost was around 45,000 marks . The new building was inaugurated on the 3rd Easter holiday in 1880.

In 1910 the parish was merged with the Schöpfurter parish, the common pastoral office was in Steinfurt.

At the end of the 1970s, the church had to be closed due to water damage and was subsequently renovated . The first service after the renovation took place at Easter 1980, exactly 100 years after the inauguration of the church. The church roof was re-covered in the mid-1980s. In 1984 the church in neighboring Schöpfurt was made available to Finowfurt for 99 years and is used as an event and concert space.
