In 1963 the SG Dynamo Brandenburg-West association was founded. Handball was a section of the club. In the turning point of 1989/1990, the handball department spun off from SG Dynamo and founded SV 63. In 2011, it had 420 members, including 250 children and young people.
The first men's team of the club achieved promotion to the 3rd division in 2011 . The coach was Peter Höhne . The team was relegated after a season. The first women's team played in the 3rd division in the 2013/14 season . The team has been competing in the Ostsee-Spree league since 2014. She is trained by Marcel Wiesner. Well-known former handball players of SV 63 Brandenburg-West include Lutz Grosser and Matthias Reckzeh .
Other sports in the club besides handball are football , weight training , bowling and ju-jutsu .
