The HSV Peenetal Loitz is a handball club from Loitz . In addition to the first men's team, the club operates two other men's teams, one women's team and is also active in youth work (16 youth teams). HSV Peenetal Loitz plays its home games in the Peenetalhalle, which can hold 650 spectators.
The club's first men's team played in the regional league , season north , for five years . Since the 2015/2016 season, the club has been part of a community with the HSG Uni Greifswald under the name SG Uni Greifswald / Loitz .

Chronicle of the first men's team
The association was founded in 1982 as Traktor Loitz . From 1984 to 1985 they played in the district league, took first place and rose to the district class. Here the team took 4th place in 1985/1986, 2nd in 1986/1987, moved up to the district league after 1st place in 1987/1988 and came 2nd in 1988/1989.
In 1989 the club was renamed HSV Loitz (Handball Sportverein Loitz). The first men's team played in the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional league and was 4th in 1989/1990, 3rd in 1990/1991, 6th in 1991/1992, 6th in 1992/1993, and was relegated to 12th place in the county league after the 1993/1994 season . In this league, the team was 7th in 1994/1995 and 9th in 1995/1996.
In 1996 the HSV Loitz merged with the Loitzer Eintracht Handball club. The team took 9th place in the association league in 1996/1997, 9th place in 1998/1999, 10th place in 1999/2000 and 2nd place in 2000/2001, making the promotion succeeded in the league. In the league, the team finished 5th in 2001/2002, 3rd in 2002/2003, 3rd in 2003/2004 and in 2004/2005 the team was promoted to the regional league after winning the relay.
In 2005 the HSV Peenetal Loitz e. V. founded. Under this name, the first men's team in the Regionalliga finished 10th in 2005/2006, 2nd in 2006/2007, 5th in 2007/2008, 10th in 2008/2009, 4th in 2009/2010 and 12th in 2010/2011; the club renounced the start in the 3rd division and rose to the 4th division (Ostsee-Spree-Liga). In the Oberliga Ostsee-Spree the team reached 2nd place in 2011/2012, 2nd place in 2012/2013 and 11th place in 2013/2014.
The SG Uni Greifswald / Loitz syndicate was founded in 2013 with SG Uni Greifswald . Under this name, the team reached 11th place in the Ostsee-Spree-Liga in 2013/2014 and was relegated after 13th place in 2015/2016.

Youth work
Boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18 have been learning to play handball at the SG since 1990. Since 2016 there has been a cooperative collaboration between HSV Peenetal Loitz eV and SV Einheit Demmin. In the lower youth segment (6- to 10-year-olds) a total of six teams were registered in the 2018/2019 season. The children are trained in the SG Loitz / Demmin. The youth warden regularly visits the Demmin and Loitz schools as well as the kindergartens in both regions in order to look for and promote new talent.
