Pro Sport Berlin 24
The Pro Sport Berlin 24 e. V. is a sports club from Berlin . It offers American football , badminton , basketball , beach volleyball , archery , boxing , cheerleading , fistball / bounce ball , soccer , gymnastics , handball , jiu jitsu , judo , canoeing , karate , athletics , rowing , swimming , sailing , shotokan , dancing , Diving , tennis , table tennis , ultimate frisbee and volleyball . With (as of April 2019) 6,000 members, it is one of the larger in Berlin.
history
Post SV Berlin was founded in September 1924 as the first post sports club in Germany.
In addition to the Olympic Stadium , the Poststadion, the second largest sports facility in Berlin, was built and opened in 1929. The preliminary round matches for footballers were played there in 1936.
At the Olympic Summer Games in 1936 Willi Horn and Erich Hanisch won the silver medal 10,000 m in a two-person folding boat.
While boat houses for canoeists were built in Grünau in 1928 , boat houses for rowers and sailors were built in Wendenschloß and a water sports leisure facility with a boathouse was built in Dolgenbrodt in Brandenburg .
After the division of Berlin in 1952, the resurrected Post SV had to limit itself to West Berlin . In East Berlin , the BSG Post Berlin existed as a company sports community of the Post of the GDR . In 1990 the BSG was dissolved and the members and sections were taken over in the Post SV.
From 1991 to 1999 the volleyball men played in the First Bundesliga , after which the team moved to Eintracht Innova Berlin .
With 6,000 members in 41 departments, the club grew to become one of the largest sports clubs in Berlin.
At the end of 2002, Deutsche Post finally stopped financial support. The rugby department of the club, which changed from BSG Post to Post SV in 1990, was then founded in 2003 as an independent club, Rugby Club 03 Berlin, from the entire club. On January 1, 2005, Post SV Berlin was renamed Pro Sport Berlin 24.
