Basket Club Maritime Gravelines Dunkerque Grand Littoral (or BCM Gravelines for short ) is a professional French basketball team from Gravelines in the Arrondissement of Dunkerque ( German  sub-prefecture of Dunkirk ) on the English Channel . The team plays in France's top national league, LNB Pro A, and has often participated in European club competitions in the past.

history

The team was founded in 1984 from a merger of the neighboring clubs from Grand-Fort-Philippe and Gravelines as "Basket Club Maritime Gravelines" and rose in 1988 for the first time in the top division of France. In 2002 the merger with a club from Dunkirk took place and under the new name the club was able to establish itself among the best teams in France. In 2003 they reached the final of the cup competition and in 2004 the championship final in France. After losing the final in the league cup "Semaine des As" in 2005, the trophy won a national title for the first time that year. After that, there were initially no further successes before they could move into the cup final again in 2010. After losing the cup final, they won the league cup for the first time in 2011. In 2012 they lost in a new edition of the league cup final from the previous year this time against Elan Chalon and could not defend the title. For this they won the regular season in France's top division and could move into the play-offs for the French championship as the main round first. There they were eliminated in the first round against the eighth-placed champion from 2010 Cholet Basket .
