Demetris Nichols (born September 4, 1984 ) is an American basketball player. He plays at Panathinaikos Athens on the position of small forward and power forward .

Career

college

After attending high school in Rhode Island, Nichols went to Syracuse Orange from Syracuse University . In his senior year of college, he was nominated to the All-Big East First Team.

professional

Nichols was selected in the 2007 NBA Draft as 53rd by the Portland Trail Blazers and immediately passed on to the New York Knicks in an exchange deal . Since contract with the Knicks, however, it was dissolved in October 2007 and he signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers . After only three games for the Cavaliers, he was transferred to Chicago Bulls in December 2007 . For Chicago he played a total of 11 NBA games. In parallel, he was used at the Iowa Energy in the D-League . The following season he got only a few minutes in 2 NBA games and had to play again for Iowa Energy. In January 2009 he got a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. In March 2009 he signed with the French BCM Gravelines and stayed there until summer 2010. In the following years he continued to play in France, in the 2010/11 season with JA Vichy and the next season with Cholet Basket . At the end of 2012, Nichols went back to the US and played for Sioux Falls Skyforce in the D-League. There he was named in February 2013 for the Prospects All-Star Team for the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Game. For the 2013/14 season Nichols signed a contract with the Russian Krasnye Krylja Samara .
