Anthony Oludewa Jeffrey Skinn (born February 8, 1983 in Lagos ) is an American basketball player with Nigerian ancestors. After studying in the United States, he played professionally in various countries in Europe , including in the BBL season 2010/11 York at the New Phantoms from Braunschweig in the German basketball league . Since the 2012/13 season he has been playing for BK Budiwelnik from Kiev . He competes internationally for Nigeria and qualified with the national team for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

college

During his studies played Skinn initially one year from 2001 to 2002 at Blinn College in Brenham in the US state of Texas for the high school team Buccaneers in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association. He then attended Hagerstown Community College in Hagerstown (Maryland) and after a year moved to George Mason University in 2003 and played for the Patriots in NCAA Division I. In his senior year 2006, he achieved together with Junior Folarin Campbell , who was also Nigerian ancestor and later played in the German BBL, the Final Four tournament of the NCAA Division I Basketball Championship . In his last season he averaged 12.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.

Professional career

In his first professional season, Skinn first played for the traditional Croatian basketball club from Split , which he left after three months in December 2006. Then he played in the French LNB Pro A after he was sorted out by the future French champion Chorale Roanne Basket before the start of the season . First he played from January 2007 at Basket Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand in the Massif Central , which were relegated after the 2007/08 season, and in the 2008/09 season on the North Sea coast at BCM Gravelines in Dunkirk . In July 2007 he was also active in the NBA Summer League wearing the Orlando Magic jersey without getting a contract for the NBA . In the 2009/10 season he played in the second Italian league LegADue in Pistoia, Tuscany .

In the 2010/11 season Skinn played in the basketball league for the New York Phantoms Braunschweig, with whom he reached the German Cup final. In the play-offs for the German championship, however, the fifth-placed Braunschweiger after the regular season were eliminated in the first round after five games against the Artland Dragons . For the 2011/12 season Skinn signed a contract in the Israeli Ligat ha'Al with Ironi Ashkelon.

At the 2012 Olympic qualification tournament, Skinn succeeded with the Nigerian national team by winning the decisive game over the Dominican Republic to reach the last starting place for the Olympic basketball tournament in London. There they were eliminated in the first group stage after just one victory over their African rivals Tunisia . For the 2012/13 season Skinn had signed a contract with the Ukrainian club BK Budiwelnyk Kiev , but after a knee injury at the Olympic Games Skinn had to undergo an operation in London and was out for several months, which made his contract null and void.
