The Tunisian national basketball team for men represents Tunisia at international basketball matches. The Tunisian national team was initially overshadowed by other North African national teams, but has recently qualified for the global finals of the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 Olympic Games . After winning the African Cup of Nations in 2011 for the first time, a setback followed at the African Cup of Nations in 2013 , when the defending champion only finished ninth and thus did not take part in the 2014 World Cup in Spain. The best-known player in Tunisia is Salah Mejri , who has been playing for Real Madrid in Spain since 2013 and was voted “ Most Valuable Player ” of the finals when he won the 2011 African Cup .
