The Ivorian men's national basketball team represents the Ivory Coast at international basketball matches. The Ivorian selection took part up to and including 1975 in only two finals of the continental finals of the African Championship . In the third participation in 1978 she reached the final and won a silver medal. Subsequently, they never missed a final round and always reached the final in the most successful period from 1978 to 1985 until 1983. However, finishing fourth in 1983 meant missing out on qualifying for the 1984 Olympic Games . After winning the gold medal in 1981 and 1985, you could qualify for the finals of the world championship, in which you reached the previous position in 1982 with 13th place. After 1985 one did not reach the medal round of the African Championship at first, before one could build on old successes recently. After winning the silver medal at the African Championships in 2009 , they were again qualified for a world championship. At the following two African Championships, they just missed a medal in fourth place and could not qualify for the global finals of the following years. Even the home advantage at the 2013 African Cup of Nations , which they had used to win the tournament in 1985, did not qualify for the 2014 World Cup after losing the bronze medal match by just one point against Senegal .
