A medal was won in each of the first four African Championships in the 1960s. In 1965 you could win the competition in Tunisia , while you won a silver medal in front of your own audience in 1964 and 1968. At the subsequent Olympic Games in 1968 , however, they lost all games, including the final placement game against African champions Senegal , and finished in 16th and last place.
