The Sudanese men's national basketball team represents Sudan at international basketball matches. At the beginning of its history, it was one of the strongest national teams in Africa, alongside the neighboring country and African basketball pioneer Egypt . At the first edition of the African Championship in 1962, she won a silver medal behind the Egyptian selection . Most recently, she was able to qualify for a continental finals in 1978. So far, it has not been enough to participate in a global final at a World Cup or the Olympic Games .
The most famous Sudanese basketball players include NBA professionals Manute Bol (1962-2010) and Luol Deng (* 1985), who were born as black Africans in what is now South Sudan . Deng competes in international games for Great Britain .
