Olympic participant in 1988

The 1988 Olympic team, which won two games and finished third from last and tenth, was led by Anicet Lavodrama and Frédéric Goporo , who both studied at Houston Baptist University in the United States and trained as basketball players. While Lavodrama, who was a successful player in the Spanish ACB league , later became an official and player adviser, Goporo, who was also active in Germany in the 2nd basketball league for the Paderborn Baskets , became the coach of the national team in 2012, however after 1988, despite relatively regular participation in the African Cup of Nations, no more medals won and no further participation in global finals.
