Preliminary round

In the preliminary round four teams played against each other in three groups. The winner of a game received two points, the loser one point. If a game was tied at the end of regular time, there was extra time.

Classification round

After the preliminary round, the third and fourth placed in each group played for places 8 to 13 in the classification round.

In the event of a tie in the final table, the direct comparison of the teams determined the placement. If this did not result in a decision, the basket ratio between the games was decisive.
