At the same time, the club is also the first Tunisian club to win an international title when they won the North African Cup Winners' Cup in 1971 .

Fan culture and rivalries
Club Africain, whose fans are called Clubistes , is the Tunisian club with the most supporters, ahead of record champions and city rivals, Espérance Tunis . The club has supporters in all social classes of Tunisian society and is therefore considered a team of the people ( Arabic فريق الشعب, DMG Fariq al Cha'b ). Many public figures in Tunisia are avowed fans. Like, for example, that of the Prime Minister Youssef Chahed or the left-wing politician Hamma Hammami .
The African Winners were founded in 1995 , this ultra group is considered the first organized in Tunisia and thus also the first in the Arab world and Africa. They have supported their team acoustically and visually since March 1995 and are now an integral part of the Tunisian scene and pioneers for the ultra-scenes in the Arab countries, especially North Africa. In December 1999 the first major choreography took place in the home stadium. There is a friendship with the fans of Wydad Casablanca and Zamalek SC .
The city's rival Espérance Tunis is historically the greatest competitor . Both clubs have existing supporters all over Tunisia. The derby has already been played 141 times, both teams have won the Tunisian championship 37 times and if you add up the cup wins of both teams, you get 23 national cup wins. The derby is therefore seen as the most important game in Tunisian club football .
Another city rival is Stade Tunisien . However, Stade Tunisien did not play a major role in the championship fight in Tunisia in the last few decades, which is why this encounter is viewed by the CA fans as a small derby and only has a traditional meaning. The balance between the two teams speaks clearly for the red-whites. Club Africain has won 60 of 112 games, drawn 36 times and lost 16 games, scoring 145 goals and conceding 79 goals. The last derby victory of the little neighbor against the almost overwhelming neighbor dates back to October 14, 2000. (As of June 1, 2013)
There is an intense and supra-regional rivalry with ES Sahel from the city of Sousse, around 130 kilometers south of the capital Tunis.
