Ali Boumnijel (born April 13, 1966 in Menzel Sealih ) is a former Tunisian football player .

The Tunisian international began his career as a goalkeeper at FC Gueugnon , where he didn't play a single game. He played his first professional game on October 20, 1991 for AS Nancy in a game against AJ Auxerre , which his team lost 3-1. He then returned to his previous club, for which he then played five seasons, until he moved to SC Bastia in 1997 , for which he was under contract for six years. He then spent another season (2003/04) at FC Rouen . After the end of this season, however, not least because of his age for football players, he could no longer find a French club that wanted to sign him, so he moved back to his home country to the Tunisian football club Club Africain . After the 2006/07 season he ended his career.

He is currently the goalkeeping coach of the Chinese national soccer team .

National team

In the Tunisian national team , he was used for the first time on November 27, 1991 in a game against the Ivory Coast . His next international match was five years away. Just in time for the 1998 World Cup , Boumnijel was the number one goalkeeper again, until then national coach Henryk Kasperczak Chokri El Ouaer preferred.

He remained the goalkeeper until shortly before the World Cup in 2002 . However, he had to resign due to persistent back problems. Since then, Boumnijel has been Tunisia's first goalkeeper. At the games of the 2006 World Cup , the 40-year-old oldest player was in the goal of the Tunisian national team.
