Chokri El Ouaer (born August 15, 1966 in Tunis , Tunisia ) is a former Tunisian goalkeeper . For a long time he was considered one of the “great” goalkeepers in Tunisia with Ali Boumnijel in the Tunisian national football team .

Athletic career

He played for Espérance Tunis for around a decade and a half before venturing a short detour to CFC Genoa in Italy in 2001 . After returning to his home club in early 2002, El Ouaer announced his departure from professional football some time later.

Shortly before the 2002 World Cup in Japan / South Korea , he resigned from the national team, so that he no longer represented his country at this event. Four years earlier he took part in the World Cup in France and was one of the best goalkeepers of the tournament behind French goalkeeper Fabien Barthez .

Chokri El Ouaer played 97 games for Tunisia . He made his debut in August 1990.
