Sedat-Simavi Prize
The Sedat Simavi Prize ( Turkish Sedat Simavi Ödülü ) is a prize originally awarded by the Sedat Simavi Foundation in several categories since 1977. It is one of the most prestigious awards in Turkey and is named after Sedat Simavi , the founder of the Turkish-language daily Hürriyet and co-founder of the Turkish Association of Journalists . The awards are currently presented by the Association of Journalists. They take place in nine categories - journalism, radio, television, literature, social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, visual arts and sport - each at the suggestion of a jury. Some categories have been partially renamed and disbanded in recent years. In 2014 the total amount of awards was 18,000 TL.
