Nezihe Meriç
Nezihe Meriç (* 1925 in Gemlik ; † August 18, 2009 in Istanbul , Turkey ) was a Turkish writer and publisher. She became known for stories, plays, and children's books.
Live and act
The former music teacher (she did not complete a degree in Turkish language and literature) was a pioneer of an emancipating women's literature in Turkey from the 1950s. According to Wilpert , her inner view of women within the men's world is characterized by a “precise, differentiated language”.
Together with her husband, Meriç was also the director of the Dost publishing house until 1972 and as such gave a. a. published a well-known magazine and poems by Nazim Hikmet .
