Ramazan Şahin (born July 8, 1983 in Makhachkala , Soviet Union as Ramsan Irbaichanow , Turkish Ramazan İrbayhanov ) is a Turkish freestyle wrestler of Chechen descent. He emigrated to Turkey in 2005, where his uncle İshak İrbayhanov is the manager of the national wrestling team.

In 2007, Şahin achieved his first international success when he won the bronze medal at the European Wrestling Championships in Sofia . In the same year he became world champion in Baku . In 2008, Şahin won gold at the European Championships and thus traveled as the reigning world and European champion in the 66 kg class as a favorite to the Olympic Games in Beijing . There he defeated the Cuban Geandry Garzon , the Iranian Mehdi Taghavi and the Georgian Otar Tuschischwilli , before he met Andrei Stadnik from Ukraine in the final . This was also just inferior to him with 5: 6, so that Şahin also achieved the Olympic victory after the world and European championship title.

In 2008 he was awarded the Sedat Simavi Prize for Sport.
